POLITICAL RESOLUTION (JOINT STATEMENT)We, Ogadenis and Oromos residing in different parts of Germany have participated the seminar organized by Ogaden Relief Association and Oromo Student Union in Germany. The seminar was held on 28.05.05 at Wolfgang Goethe University of Frankfurt am Mainz. The seminar was aimed to enhance the Oromo-Ogaden awareness, to evaluate the ongoing Oromo-Ogadeni liberation movements, the current political situation on Ethiopian Empire and to promote ideas, and exchange experiences between the two brotherly nations. During this seminar papers were presented from Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) and Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) representatives, and from humanitarian activist. After through discussion and wide ranging assessment on the current social, economic and political issues of Ethiopian Empire in relation to Horn of African countries and the World, the participants of the seminar have passed the following comprehensive resolution on various issues
On OLF and
ONLF We also call up on both Liberation Movements to forge stronger bond of unity in a form of United Front which allow them to strengthen there combined effort on diplomatic, political and armed struggle against TPLF. The participants of the seminar also summoned to Oromo and Ogadeni intellectuals (elites) to carry on forums and debates that will crate a firm ground for a unity of purpose. TO Oromos and Ogadenis both abroad and at Home We call up on the Oromo and Ogadeni broad mass to stand with the side of ONLF, OLF and their respective gallant fighters and consolidate their strength and power under their vanguard ship. In the last thirteen years TPLF/EPRDF has been tactically engaged in instigation of ethnic discord. To this effect it apportions part of nations territory to the other, and then instigates territorial claims, which it inflames in to armed conflict. We call up on our people to be aware of “divide and rule” colonial principle. On Human Rights Violations Committed by TPLF/EPRDF Regime The Ethiopian government’s human rights record has been reported by various human rights organisations, including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Survival for Tribal Peoples, the International Commission of Jurists, International PEN, The Committee to Protect Journalists, Oromia Support Group (OSG), the Ethiopian Human Rights Council (EHRCO), US State Department Reports on Human Rights practices and European Union (EU) and etc. The recent report of Human rights Watch comprehensively witnessed the nature of EPRDF regime. Accordingly we strongly condemn such brutal act of TPLF and hence, we request and appeal to Democratic governments, AU, UN and EU that: 1. To publicly censure Ethiopia over its human rights records; by all possible legal measures they have as partner in various agreements
On Ethiopian National Election Conducted The election, like the previous ones is nothing but a futile and expensive exercise to legitimise the TPLF’s dictatorial rule and prolong the misery of millions of peoples. Generally lack transparency, widespread arrest, and intimidation of members of opposition parties were already noted. In addition we also believe that whatever the election out come will be the election without the participation of some genuine mass based organisation Such as OLF, ONLF, SLF and etc will never bring Ethiopia to peace. We condemn such sham elections and calls on the international community: -
2. To establish independent international observers to coordinate, monitor and distribute ballots for the next August national election in Ogadenia. We also strongly condemn the election that is planned to take place after the International observers have gone and after media coverage is turned off. On armed struggle and Implications conceived by International communityFreedom is the birth right of every human being. We, oromos and Ogadenis as our historic truck record indicates have always attempted all peaceful means to resolve our conflicts with Abyssinians however a series of abuses of our good intentions for peaceful resolution of injustices have been endured under Abyssinian colonialism for a century. Accordingly we left with no alternatives than to raise arms to defend our human dignity against alien domination in our land. Such raise of arms should not be considered as any terrorist act as TPLF wants to project to the world community. Instead we appeal to the world community to sincerely monitor TPLF-led state terrorism.
