Civilians harmed in parts of Ogaden |

2007 One of the Radio Freedom reporters
in the town of Gudhis, Ogaden, reported
myriad of abuses and human rights violations
committed against the
inhabitants of the town of Gudhis.
The Ethiopian militia deployed in and around
the town of Gudhis went on the rampage
following recent, heavy military defeats
inflicted on them by the Ogaden National
Liberation Front, ONLF, fighters.
ON January 27th, 2007, the Ethiopian militia
in Gudhis is reported to have kidnapped
about forty-five civilians as confirmed by
the town dwellers. Eyewitnesses told Radio
Freedom reporter in the town that the
kidnapped civilians were ordered to
transport, on their backs, heavy military
equipment as well as military rations.
The names of some of the kidnapped civilians
used as a transport vehicle compiled by the
Radio Freedom reporter so far are as
follows:

In a related news, the same Ethiopian
militia is reported to have robed
civilians money reported to amount to thirty
thousands Bir. It is also said
that the same militia helped themselves with
about sixty goats. The goats
are said to have been slaughtered by the
militia to feed themselves.
Some of the names of the civilians whose
herd of goats were taken by the
Militia are as follows:
1- Sh Maxamed Cabdi Xasan who lost about
seven goats.
2- C/raxmaan C/llaahi Hudle who lost about
thirteen goats.
3- Muxumed Suufi who lost about nine goats.
Radio Freedom reporter in the town of
Caynuun reported that the Ethiopian
militia deployed there robed civilians of
valuables including thousands of
Birs. Some civilians are said to have been
kidnapped to transport the
militia loot.
